My original landscape paintings are produced on-site and from drawings done on-site. When I work en plein air, I use a small set of Cotman watercolors for their portability, supplemented with some half pans of Sennlier for their dense, lush colors.
In my Portland, Maine studio, I favor M. Graham watercolors because of their rich, lush color and superior binding. These allow me to produce exceptionally bright watercolors that won’t fade over time. I use a variety of papers, mostly cold-press, which give my paintings texture and allow me to create large, bold washes.
